Smith rues lack of cutting edge

Stevenage boss Gary Smith rued his side's lack of cutting edge as Sheffield United ended their League One promotion dreams.
Chris Porter's late goal sent Sheffield United to Wembley for the League One play-off final after a 1-0 win on aggregate.
In two tight legs Porter scored the all-important goal to edge out Stevenage and Smith admits he was hoping his side could have held out for extra-time and possibly penalties.
"I am hugely disappointed," Smith told Sky Sports 1HD. "I thought we had probably weathered enough of the game to get ourselves into extra-time, but I think when I have a moment to reflect on it Sheffield United had the best chances and certainly took the game to us.
"But if you look at the sort of desire and passion that my group showed tonight I just wished we could get it to extra-time and maybe take it right to those penalty kicks.
"The foundation for a lot of our work was hugely disciplined defending. We frustrated them for good periods, but we just weren't much of a threat at the other end.
"On games like tonight and occasions like tonight you have got to threaten your opponents goal and we just didn't do enough."
Smith wished Sheffield United all the best in the final with Huddersfield and MK Dons battling it out to join the Blades at Wembley.
"Of course it might take a little while for emotions to subside a little bit with a Wembley final in front of you it is difficult to take," added Smith.
"Of course we wish Sheffield United all the best. They played ever so well tonight and we probably always knew a goal might be enough to take either side through, so good luck to them and good luck to Danny [Wilson] and Sheffield United."
